E3. Visit an exhibition and review it. Present your review on your blog.
In term 3 our class went to the tauranga art gallery, which is a well-known art gallery in tauranga. The main theme of this event was the illustrations on books, such as picture books. I saw several stunning pieces of art, in the gallery.
The pictures and illustrations all varied in different diversity of creative and innovative concepts. By looking at their artistic features and designs, I was able to receive an undisputed idea of evident illustrations and pictures. Eventhough, there were lots of disparities between the focus of each paintings, I noticed that were all very simple in some aspects, that I thought they could be be portrayed on a picture book.
Secondly, we were provided to make and illustrate our own artworks. Since the entire purpose of this event was illustrations, we were taught and shown how to make our own illustrations for our picture books. Then, we made our illustrations, using practical implements such as paint brushes.
This artistic event has been a great experience for me and had a significant and beneficial influence on my pespective towards art.

Academic excellence - Rimu homework challenge
A8. Design your own challenge
For this academic challenge I designed my own topic and it's to "write a life biography about a famous, well-known scientist or an inventor", and I will write about Thomas Edison.
Thomas Edison
Born in 11th February 1847, Ohio, United States, Thomas Edison grew up in Port Huron, Michigan. As a child, he was the youngest child in his family, so he was a beloved as a child by his parents and was well educated.
As an adult, Thomas Edison beacame a renowned inventor. He invented numerous useful devices and tools that are utilized efficiently and usefully, now a days, such as the light bulb.
The light bulb is the most iconic invention of Thomas Edison. Eventhough there are many people, these days, who say the fact that Edison made the light bulb by himself is biased, Edison indeed contributed to the most of the making of the device. In around 1879, Thomas Edison invented his first lightbulb.
After his great invention, the world became interested in the very beneficial and practical tool, the light bulb and began using it until it was spread to the entire globe.
Then, unfortunately in 18th October 1931, New Jersey, United States Thomas Edison died.

Academic excellence - Rimu homework challenge
A7. Complete at least three of the ICAS competitions.
Starting from last term I started completing ICAS competitions, including computer skills, science, writing, spelling, reading and mathematics. So far, eventhough I received "participation" for computer skills, I got "credit" for science, writing and spelling.
The academic marking system for each tests is ordered from the lowest score to the highest score:
participation, merit, credit, distinction and high distinction. Therefore, since I got "credit", I I'm satisfied with the results. However I'm not fully proud of myself. This is because I thought I would do better in the tests. In other words, I expected to do better in the tests.
But I still hope I got a better mark in the next two tests, reading and mathematics
