Te Whare Wananga o Te Maro

Tahuhu is the backbone of a Whare, and Heke is the Ribs of it.

It also has three iwi on top of each other. There is rope Taura that goes to the top one from the bottom one. The rope appears to be held be the 3 iwi. It represents the colours of ten different houses.

Finally, for the three iwi, the top one is from takitimu waka Nga Ranginui
the middle one is from Nga ti Pukenga, and the bottom one is from Matatua Ngai Te Rangi.
These heads represent the ancestors and they always face Northwards, to show respect towards the older ancesters.

St Valentines was a Roman priest who was secretly organising weddings for soldiers. He was jailed then sentenced to death by the King on February 14th AD 270. We exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers, with our special valentines. A special valentine is someone that you love.

American spend up to 3.6 billion dollars on Valentines gift each year. 50 million roses are sold each year on Valentines Day. 73% of people who buy flowers for Valentines day are men and 27% are women.15% of the US women send themselves flowers on Valentines day. Eros is the greek god of love and his roman form is Cupid.

Waitangi Day

The treaty of waitangi, signed by more than 40 maori chiefon the 6th Feb 1840, was a treaty                              between the british and Maori for the land of New Zealand.

These days, it is celebrated as one of New Zealand`s most important                                                                                  holidays.

In my opinion, I think the crowd is blocking the road to gain people`s interest towards their                      rebellion in order to make them celebrate the treaty of waitngi, and honour it.
